Installing Backsplashes in Your Kitchen
Installing backsplash in your kitchen will not only protect its walls from oils and splattered grease, but will also make your kitchen beautiful. First of all, remove all the appliances that are coming in the way of your backsplash. This may include your range hood, stove and other countertop appliances.
After that, clean the wall surface and measure the lines to determine how the backsplash tiles are going to be laid. Start making plumb line at a focal point and follow countertop for horizontal layout. Use mastic for bonding the tiles to the wall. Place one tile at the center plumb line and fix it to the wall. Put sufficient mastic to install 2-3 tiles at a time. Lay the tiles working away from its centerline but be careful that you do not press the tiles too hard that the mastic may leak in between tiles. Use the spacers for spacing apart the tiles. Keep wiping off the excess mastic which may ooze up on the tiles. Apply grout once the mastic has completely dried. After this, you will have a great looking kitchen free from any grease and stains.
