If your shower is leaking, then it is not only increasing your water bills, but also wasting a lot of water which is unfavorable for the environment. In order to fix the leaky shower, first of all, shut off your water valves and then drain out the excess water. Open the screws holding the handle off and take both hot and cold off. After the handle is off, take off the water guard. Open the nut that has held the stem in place. Open the shower stem in anti-clockwise direction. Replace the washer located at the end which goes into the pipe.
Replace the packing washer at the middle section of the stem. Clean the debris from pipe and then put together the parts in reverse order. Recoil around the shower faucet guard to give protection to your wall from any possible damage. In this way, you will be able to fix your leaky shower on your own.
There are some basic steps such as preparing the rough plumbing, soldering the pipe lines, installing a pop-up drain, leveling the basin, attaching the trap, and mounting the faucet. Firstly place your sink unit on the base and insure everything is level.
Mark the fitting holes of the sink while basin is on top of pedestal to prepare from drilling. Remove sink and continue to drill holes in marked area and install plugs to insure sink will be fitted correctly. Attach all plumbing fittings and place basin on top of pedestal again. Once all plumbing fixtures are in place you can then continue to insert screws to permanently secure the sink.
Before continuing in installing your own sink it would be wise to make sure you have all the necessary tools available to prevent headaches later on in the process. Many manufacturers offer a service included in the price for free installation as well as delivering the sink unit to your home.
